Introduction
Hello friends, and welcome to Little Podschool! I’m Tiffany, a homeschooling mama, and on this channel, I share about motherhood and homeschooling every single week in a video. I’m excited to bring you guys my 2020 gift-giving haul/guide. In this video, I’m going to show you my favorite educational resources that I have given as Christmas gifts and things I have bought for my boys this year. Giving gifts that are educational can make a big impact on their learning and growth. I’m excited to share these resources with you, and I think you guys are going to get a lot of inspiration from this list.
Stocking Stuffers 🧦
First, let’s talk about stocking stuffers. These are easy little things that you can grab and they make great small gifts for kids. One item I want to show you is a little book lamp. Kids love these because they can attach them onto the book they’re reading to keep beside their beds or clip onto any book they’re reading. They shine pretty bright and are of good quality. Another great stocking stuffer is a bookmark called Mark Time. It holds the place of where the child left off and has a timer that can be set for any desired reading time. It’s an easy-to-use tool that encourages independent reading.
Sticker and Number Books 📚
Next, let’s move on to sticker and number books. Several different books make great stocking stuffers, and I’m going to show you the ones I’ve gotten for my kids this Christmas. These books are great for building their sticker collection and they love using them for various activities. Usborne first sticker books are also a hit with my boys, especially the museum’s sticker book and the jobs sticker book. They provide endless entertainment and are perfect for both younger and older kids.
Art Supplies 🖌️
Now let’s talk about replenishing art supplies for stocking stuffers. Kids always need art supplies and are always excited to receive them. Replenishing twistable crayola crayons, high-quality erasable colored pencils, and really good quality markers are great options. My boys have never been disappointed to receive art supplies as gifts. This year, I ended up getting sets of Chroma Blends, which are watercolor brush markers. I’m excited to use them as I’ve seen a couple of different brands, and this is the one I wanted to try this year.
Books 📚
Books are always well-loved in our household, and we don’t even do boxes of book sets anymore. I’m excited to introduce some new books to my boys this year. I’m particularly excited about the Lego books, as my boys are obsessed with Legos. They will be a great addition to our home collection. We also love reading aloud non-traditional books such as “Brave Wilderness” by Coyote Peterson and “Charlotte’s Web.” These books are not only fun to read, but they also have a lot of educational value. I highly recommend introducing your kids to Coyote Peterson’s books, especially if they love animals. We also got some sticker books and the “Encyclopedia of Animals” by DK and Usborne. These books are great for learning and exploring the animal kingdom.
Board Games 🎲
Board games make great gifts, and my boys are going to love the ones I got them this year. One game called “Money Bags” is a crazy coin-counting game that helps reinforce the concept of money. It’s a great game to play as a family. We also got “Wild Animalopoly”, which is like Monopoly but with animals. This game goes well with our ongoing zoology studies. We didn’t get Jumanji this year, but I think it’s worth mentioning as it’s a good game for kids who love animals. Another game we got is “Dino Math Tracks”, which is a place value math game. It’s a fun way to learn about math and is suitable for children in grades one and above.
Educational Toys 🧩
Finally, let’s talk about educational toys. Two sets of Lego Mindstorms are the ones I’m most excited about. These sets are a bit pricey, but they make excellent investments for Lego lovers. They are STEM toys that encourage creativity and come with idea booklets. The possibilities are endless with these sets. Another great toy is the Snap Circuits set. This toy is not only fun but also highly educational. It’s a great way to introduce kids to concepts in robotics and electrical circuits.
Conclusion
I hope you found this gift-giving guide helpful and that it sparked some inspiration for your Christmas shopping. Educational gifts are a great way to enrich learning and encourage children’s interests. Whether you’re homeschooling or not, these resources can make great gifts for kids of all ages. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and consider buying educational things for the little ones in your life. Happy shopping and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
